Colocation and managed services provider NaviSite has added a new Charlotte, N.C., data center, expanding its roster to 16 facilities. The company opened the new facility to meet growing demand for hosting services in the southeastern region of the U.S.

“Our extensive, enterprise-class data center network is the mainstay of our business,” NaviSite Chief Revenue Officer R. Brooks Borcherding said in a statement. “We continue to experience increasing demand for our innovative cloud-based enterprise hosting and application offerings. The Charlotte data center extends our presence into the southeastern region and offers our customers another option for the provisioning of our suite of hosting solutions.”

The facility, located in a building owned by DCI Tech Holdings, houses 12,000 square feet of data center floor. It features redundant power and HVAC systems, as well as N+2-redundant UPS systems. With capacity to store 4,000 gallons of fuel on site, the back-up generator’s run time is up to 48 hours. The data center also features three 100-ton dry coolers.

Multiple backbone providers and diverse fiber-route entries ensure redundant network connectivity.

Staff at two remote NOC’s – one in the U.S. and one in India – monitor clients’ IT equipment around the clock. The data center is equipped with a video surveillance system and is staffed with security personnel 24x7.

NaviSite operates data centers in multiple U.S. cities, including San Francisco and San Jose, Calif., New York City, Houston and Dallas, Texas, and Chicago, Ill.

DCI Tech Holdings – the Charlotte building’s owner – specializes in technology and real estate investments. The Palo Alto, Calif.-based firm’s real estate assets are comprised of more than 1.4 million square feet of facilities.
