HP’s next container based data center will be 6.7m long, 2.59m and 3.05m tall – around 15cm wider and higher the full sized 12.9m (40ft) model. The ‘half size’ container will weigh in at 22,727kg and carry 1,587kg per rack. Power will be supplied by 2x 225A busway offering 291kW non redundant (145kW redundant) with an average power per rack of 29kW (14.5kW redundant). Input specification is the same as the existing larger container at 415v – 3 phase, 240v to rack. Cooling is supplied by a chilled water to heat exchanger, hot/cold aisle configuration with a flow rate of 454l/min. The smaller pod – a standard ISO container – will hold a maximum of 10 racks supporting a total of 500u with a max of 1,600 nodes. The product is expected to receive its official launch in the next four to six weeks. HP claims to be able to ship a fitted POD in six weeks. |
