German supplier AEG Power Solutions announced a range of modular based UPS models branded the the Protect 8. line.
The firm is taking the approach of making each UPS specific to customer requirements.
The initial version launched by AEG Power Solutions is the Protect 8. 31, an industrial double-conversion model offering three input phases and one output phase.
“In designing the Protect 8. generation, we built upon the know-how and technology developed for the Protect 5 UPS family to achieve even-higher levels of reliability,” said Luca Buscherini, UPS Protect Family Line Manager, AEG Power Solutions, Belecke, Germany.
“Protect 8. UPS are customer-ized. This means that, thanks to our innovative building block approach, each customer gets precisely what they are looking for, in terms of mechanical protection, input and output voltages, battery type and autonomy and desired documentation,” he added.

Colocation and interconnection specialist Telx has expanded its footprint by 50 percent in Los Angeles by expanding into adjacent space at 600 West 7th Street. Telx is the building-sanctioned interconnection provider at 600 West 7th Street, and said the additional space will provide expansion options for its media and entertainment, gaming and financial services customers.
“Our new expansion space at 600 West 7th offers the latest in power optimization and raised-floor cooling to ensure minimal environmental impact, while providing some of the highest power densities and proximity capabilities in the West Coast data center market,” said J.  One of Cray supercomputers NSA deployed in the '80s and early '90s, now on display at the agency's museum
US federal and Utah state officials announced last week the US National Security Agency’s plan to build a new $1.6-billion data center in Camp Williams, Utah.
NSA Deputy Director Glenn Gaffney, Utah Gov. Gary Herbert and three members of the US Congress made the official announcement of the project, touting the hundreds of new jobs it was going to create in the state, whose unemployment rate in September stood at six percent, according to the US Bureau of Labor Statistics.
